Of the 4C's, carat weight is the simplest
factor used to determine the value of a diamond. As with
all precisions gem the weight of a diamond is expressed
in carats. One carat equals one-fifth of a gram or 1/142
of an ounce. Once carat is divided into 100 points so
a diamond weighting 3/4 carat has 75 points or .75 carats.
Compared to colorless diamonds it is more difficult
to find a large fancy diamonds. As it tends to be smaller
stones and usually weighs less than a carat. Larger
fancy diamonds are rarer than "white" diamond.
Therefore, they are valuable. The larger the size, the
more expensive the item is. No matter how small it is,
it still can display beautiful, intense colors if they
are well-cut.
